a letter to my future self
I would like to tell you a little lesson about power.
To us power and the meaning of it has changed drastically throughout our life. If you ever feel like you don't have enough or find yourself in a down I urge you to read this.
When we entered the world all those years ago, one of the first things we linked to power was being rich. When people asked us what do you want to be when you grow up we simply responded with rich. Since no one ever talked us out of our believes as a kid we started measuring our power in possessions and wealth. A big car or house, the newest toys, they where all there if you had power.
As soon as we developed in our live we learned that power was also measured in leadership. We started admiring dictators not because of their cruel ways but because they had so much ''power'' they could outsmart all others and get away with anything.
Power in this meaning has made us feel weak and cry many times in our lives. We felt that we should be higher up the ladder telling people how it should be or make them admire us. Or we should have been richer and further in our lives. These believes have made us see dumps where there is beauty, weakness where there is authority and told us ''no we can't'' where we should have said ''yes we can''.
Luckily for us our understanding of power was not finished. As we reinvented ourself, got our health back to being our first priority and took a turn for the better we learned a valuable lesson.
Power is a long forgotten sense and feeling that is not expressible in ones status or wealth. Power is in that sense like joy, it can take over your soul and drive you through the day in warmth.
We have recently started a journey of adventure called entrepreneurship and it has felt more powerful than anything. We tried building a business before but our believes of why and how where wrong. This time we work with a clear vision, with passion and love. Our first day working in a business coffee place we worked in an immense speed on this project. We had purpose and with no distractions around we had laser-focus.
When we went back, instead of taking a tram we decided to walk back. This gave us a brief moment to reflect our feeling and progress. We realised we had hit a new definition of power yet again. The moment itself reflecting back to a year before it felt like we stepped into a Ferrari. We where engaged with the world, with ourself and our body. Who was this new man, this man that could do in 2 hours what would have normally cost him weeks, this man that looked good, had a powerful posture, determination and a feeling of fitness. We had no money in our pocket, no power over anyone but ourself, we were no manager or sport legend that we dreamed of. Yet our Ferrari was flooring it, we were engaged in writing, reading, working, thinking and putting out content.
A great surge of power came over us. We had found our new power, the drive of a Ferrari as I like to call these kinds of moments, the aura of full throttle and the understanding of what was important and is important.
To my future self, don't go down without a fight, power is not dominance, not having control over something and definitely not money. Power is being alive in the best way possible by being engaged with your inner self.
Be on the lookout for growth in your health, happiness and visions.
GO for power, REAL power!
